Festival in the Park
This month I am very busy getting ready for one of Charlotte’s finest art festivals, Festival in the Park.
When I moved to Charlotte two years ago, I had no clue what I was expecting of the city. I had never been here before, but had this random decision that I wanted to move to Charlotte. The spontaneous choice I made that day amazes me more and more because of what I have discovered in Charlotte since then. One thing that has helped me in the last two years to get to know more people and learn the city is being involved in different art events in the area.
Festival in the Park is a four day festival at Freedom Park in Dilworth. This year it runs from September 20 – 23. This year also marks the 43rd anniversary of the event, and my first year participating. I am anxious, nervous, and thrilled to be part of such a huge event and honored to have a booth displaying and selling my fine art photography for the entire four days of the festival!
With the advantage of each booth having its own lighting, the festival is able to go into the night. The lake is lit up each evening with reflections of the artists’ booths that surround the water.
Over 150 different artists will be participating, along with great music, food, and activities for the kids. One of the most amazing aspects of this festival is the amount of people that peruse the creations and culture in the park. More than 85,000 visitors from around the world are expected at this year’s festival.
Like other art festivals I have participated in, I look forward to all of the different people that will either be next to me displaying their art or walking through my booth to look at my photography. Events such as this are a great way to make contacts (and friendships) in the art world.
